Co. Meath:

The Kellys of Breaga which is situated in the eastern part of Co. Meath, were one of the four tribes of Tara. The others being O'Hart, O'Regan and O'Connolly. Prior to the arrival of the Normans, this was a very powerful sept and were considered at least as powerful as the Kellys of Hy Many. The arrival of the Anglo-Normans changed all this. These Kellys were conquered and suppressed and made subservient to the recently arrived AngloNormans. Despite this, the name still prospered in this area.
